White-Knuckle Christianity and Grace that is Caught

I recently had my first-ever podcast interview. It was a lot of fun to sit down and have a conversation with my friend, Pastor Nar, and now to let you all in on it. I met Pastor Nar on twitter, because he was part of a conversation that seemed interesting to me. This group was calling itself the “Outlaw Preachers“, and they kept talking about grace, so I decided to listen in. I got to know a few of the individuals, and for reasons unknown to me, Pastor Nar took a liking to me. He told me he had a podcast, and we thought it would be cool to to have some kind of an interview on it. And the rest is history, I guess.

We had no specific agenda for the interview, so we ended up talking about all kinds of things. But one of the emerging themes of the conversation ended up being how we as Christians actually go about growing in personal holiness. Does it have more to do trying really hard to be good, or knowing simply that we aren’t but that God is? I share my personal experiences with this question in the interview. Enjoy!

This is such an essential question. Haven’t listened to the podcast yet, but just the question itself: If we as Christians don’t have something better to tell the world than, “Stop being selfish and try really hard to do better” then we’re all screwed. Glad you’re wrestling deeply with this issue.
